Mycophenolate is an immunosuppressant which is used to prevent the organ rejection followed by the transplantation. It also helps to cure autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, Chron’s disease and psoriasis.  Due to its effectiveness, it is used extensively in transplant operations like liver transplant, kidney transplant and heart transplant.

Mycophenolate is used in combination with other medicines to prevent the rejection. It can also be used in some other condition after the recommendation of an experienced doctor. Mycophenolate capsules have certain adverse impacts so before taking it you have to follow few things for its safer use.

Avoid the use of mycophenolate capsules in the following conditions-
  • If you are allergic to any ingredient used in mycophenolate mofetil or mycophenolic acid.
  • If you are taking the medicines that contain mycophenolate or mycophenolic acid.
  • If you are taking the combination of norfloxacin and metronidazole.
  • If you have a rare hereditary deficiency of hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyl-transferase (HGPRT).

Consult your doctor if you have following medical conditions as they may interact with mycophenolate mofetil-
  • If you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding to the infant.
  • If you are consuming any kind of prescribed or non-prescribed medicine or nay other dietary supplements.
  • If you are allergic to something (medicine, food or other material).
  • If you have an immune problem or taking any immunosuppressant.
  • If you have a problem in your stomach, bowel or kidney.
  • If you have any personal or family past of skin or blood cancer or other skin problem.
  • If you are suggested for vaccination.
There may be more points to consider while taking mycophenolate mofetil so consult your doctor and give all brief about your health history and present health status to prevent its harmful effects.
